Student Leadership

Our  students believe that by having one voice, the student voice influencing learning, success and opportunity through Student Leadership will drive our school forward. We believe that students should have the opportunity to participate actively in school life by taking up roles and responsibilities throughout the academic year in order to contribute to whole school improvement. Our students believe that “students who can aspire … can inspire students.” Over 100 students represent Student Leadership within our school and have decided that the two charities that they will support  this academic year are ‘Cancer Reseach’ and ‘Help the Hero’s. The students have recently organised a non-uniform day and a Christmas jumper day. These were extremely well organised and communicated effectively to all students and parents/carers. The Key Stage Leadership teams meet once a half-term to plan for future fundraiser events and discuss any issues that they feel need to be resolved around school. The Key Stage 3 team are currently discussing what they can do to improve the school environment. The Leadership Team is also split up into small committees. These include groups that look at and work on the student planner, anti-bullying, dining facilities, environment and a group that meet with the Heads to discuss their views and ideas.

The Eco Council are currently working with the ‘Friends of Benton Park’ to improve the outside facilities of the school. They are working with outside agencies to re-develop a garden area. This work has commenced during the February half-term and will continue into the Summer term.
