Talented Katherine Sykes, year 9, has won a recent competition organised by Leeds in Bloom to design a flowerbed for Leeds city centre parks.

More than 1,400 youngsters from 33 schools entered the competition, so being one of the seven overall winners was an amazing achievement. Katherine attended a civic reception hosted by Leeds City Council and was presented with her award and a wonderful supply of artist products.
Katherine's flowerbed will be created and on display in York Street, along with some of the other designs, whilst the remaining winners' gardens will be planted in Park Square.
