Beacon status

Benton Park has been fortunate enough to be given Beacon status from September 2001. Through this we are in the position to be able to fund activities with other schools where there is a showing of good practice. We can pay for supply cover and many other costs incurred as a result of a Beacon activity.

Our main Beacon areas are:

• The use of ICT to improve Teaching and Learning

• The use of ICT in Science, English and Maths

• School Leadership

• Staff Professional Development

• Provision for Gifted and Talented pupils

• Transition issues from KS2 to KS3

• Initial Teacher Training

If you wish to be involved in our activities outside these areas, however, please contact us. For example, we recently had an excellent Media Studies day, which focused on AS/A2 teaching of Genre and Representation, given by our Head of Media Studies Nick Lacey and Roy Stafford.
