Healthy Schools

Benton Park is excited at the prospect of working towards achieving the Leeds Advanced Healthy Schools Status. This will mean fulfilling the 178 criteria in the areas of:

• PSHE and Citizenship
• Physical and Enhanced Health of Staff and Pupils
• Extended Schools Provision
• Physical Environment and Safety

This is a tremendous challenge and it will require the participation and enthusiasm of all stakeholders, including students, staff, parents/carers, governors, local businesses, churches etc.We do believe, however, it will be of great benefit to all and therefore worth the effort.

Carnegie Club

As a Leeds Healthy School, we know that childhood obesity is a growing problem across the UK and is associated with ill health, which includes diabetes, heart disease and cancer; it also has negative effects on childrens' emotional health and wellbeing.

Weight problems are a sensitive issue to tackle. At Carnegie Weight Management (CWM), they recognise these concerns and have designed a whole family programme to address such concerns and to help families to change their lifestyles.
