Sample Design & Technology Projects

Textile portraits – Year 7 & 8 experienced shading, sketching, collage, abstract artists, hand embroidery, colour coordination and machine stitching to complete textile portraits of their friends.

Learning Panel – Year 8 s.o.w designing and making a learning panel for a child within their own specification. Pupils experience appliqué, colour coordination, textile terminology, different machine stitching, embroidery and beading. Activities include hidden squeakers, pockets, buttons and zips.

Cushions – Year 7 project which introduces a basic range of techniques and builds on key stage 2 skills. Pupils design and make a cushion integrating a cultural theme of their choice. They experience using cad/cam software to manufacture stencils and transfers and also learn how to apply fabric paint, design new hand embroidery and attempt a sewing machine driving test.

Roomies – Year 9 project Roomies concentrates on textile signs that hang on doors. Can be for personal use, family of friends. Skills include embroidery module, beading hand stitching, transfer, fabric paints and adding components.
