SOS KIT AID

The PE Department has a charity link with SOS iRB Kit Aid where we collect boots, shirts, shorts and socks that pupils have grown out of. Every year youngsters grow out of their rugby kit and much of it simply goes to waste. SOS estimates that over £3/4 million work of kit is thrown away in the UK every year. We collect your outgrown kit and put it to good use in developing nations where thousands of young people are desperate to play but have no kit.

Thank you so much for considering/taking part in SOS iRB Kit Aid. In three years of collecting outgrown or unwanted rugby kit from more than 1,000 schools, clubs and kit manufacturers across the UK, SOS has been abel to make a massive, tangible difference to junior rugby in Romania for example.

Over 40 junior rugby clubs in Romania have received precious rugby kit so the game there, once in shart decline, has now been consolidated and junior numbers are growing for the first time in 10 years. George Straton, President of the Romanian Rugby Federation, pays tribute to SOS on the project's exciting webside: www.sosirbkitaid.org. We have delivered nearly 10,000 shirts, 8,000 shorts and 3,000 pairs of good quality rugby boots to seven emerging rugby nations including Romania, Georgia and Moldova - all donated freelly!

We have now started to deliver to Poland, Czech Republic, Ukraine and Bulgaria where the need for kit is equally desperate.

Any kit that you have can be handed to Mr Dewhirst who co-ordinates this project.
