Sporting Partnerships
We are creating strong links with 4 ‘feeder’ primary schools through the St. Mary’s School Sport Co-ordinator (SSCo) Partnership. The 4 focus schools are: Rawdon St. Peter’s Primary School, Rawdon Littlemoor Primary School , Yeadon South View Junior School and Yeadon Westfield Junior School .
One teacher from P.E. department, supports the delivery and assessment of a year 6, 8 week unit of work in each ‘feeder’ primary school. The focus activities have been gymnastics and invasion games.
Community Sports Leaders – ‘Feeder’ Primary school pupils are taught by sixth form pupils taking the Community Sports Leaders Award. CSLA students are also involved with the planning, preparation and delivery of primary school festivals and mini-league competitions.
Feeder Primary Schools have use of our facilities for festivals, mini-leagues and extra curricular activities for at least one evening per month.
A P.E. induction programme to focus on gifted and talented primary school pupils has been provided in netball, basketball and athletics.
Regular meetings take place at Benton Park School between primary link teachers from each ‘feeder’ primary school, the SSCo and Head of PE.
Through the school sport partnership we liaise with other secondary schools to improve PE and school sport programmes
