The Junior Football Organisers (JFO) was piloted by Benton Park this year. Ten Year 10 pupils had to plan, organise and deliver a primary school football festival, which as held at GOALS Soccer Centre, Kirkstall in April. 50 Year 5 pupils from 6 feeder schools enjoyed some coaching from the JFO students and a 6-a-side competition which was refereed by the students.
Year 12 students, Joe Partridge and Nicola Ritchie, are taking part in the HSLA (Higher Sports Leadership Award) course where they will gain a full First Aid qualification, a level one National Governing Body Award and a TOP Play and BT TOP Sport delivery certificate. They also have to complete 30 voluntary leadership hours.
Eight pupils are taking part in the Youth Sport Trust SIS programme. They are working towards achieving 50, 100 or 200 hours of volunteering in the sports domain for which they will receive a bronze, silver or gold respectively. Louise Cawood and Katherine Barton have already attained gold!
And finally... A double success for our hockey teams this year with the seniors winning the Leeds League and the U16 tasting glory with the double Leeds League and Cup. Congratulations to both teams.
