Music Courses
KS3
In years 7-9 all pupils have one hour of music a week. All lessons are based around developing practical music making skills. In KS3 we cover a wide variety of subjects from film music to samba where pupils are given the opportunity to develop keyboard, percussion, guitar and singing skills. In year 9 students follow the Musical Futures program which allows them to develop their performing, composing and appraising skills through group work and paying music of their choice.
GCSE
GCSE music is a popular option. It is a viable choice for most pupils who have done well at KS3. Contrary to popular belief you don't have to be a fantastic instrumentalist as good singers are welcome. You must enjoy performing and composing and be willing to listen to a wide variety of styles of music.
BTEC and AS/A2 Level (Sixth Form)
Currently we are running a BTEC performing course in the sixth form which tends to suit the rock/pop musicians, although we have run AS/A2 level in the past and may do in the future.
