Forced Migration

Year 8 students have been studying the topic of Migration.  They appreciate that migration can be a choice but also that it can be forced upon people.  This piece of creative style writing is a culmination of weeks of studying the issues surrounding forced migration of people in various countries from Zimbabwe to Afghanistan.

The students listened to an account of an asylum seeker from Zimbabwe that had arrived in the UK last year.  They looked at the procedures and criteria for getting refuge in the UK and completed Own Learning on websites such as Save The Children, Amnesty International and RETAS, a Leeds based support organisation for forced migrants.

It was an extremely hard choice to choose these exemplars.  The standard of work form the whole year group was high.

I hope you enjoy the creativity of our Benton Park year 8 geography students and revel in their ability to empathise with individuals going through this difficult time.
