GCSE Geography Field work Photos.

Year 10 geographers spent 2 days at the seaside in April. We visited Sandsend, Whitby and Robin Hoods Bay and stayed overnight at the youth hostel at Boggle Hole. We were doing real geography and showed how tough we are by surviving gale force winds, hailstorms and a surfeit of fish and chips!

The photos show how we collected information and carried out measurements for our GCSE coursework. We looked at the serious erosion that is occurring along this coastline and saw how large lumps of boulder clay were falling off the cliff, especially around the cave at Boggle Hole. We now have to decide how effective the sea defences are and use the information to complete our coursework.

The stay at the youth hostel was fun even though we had to make our own beds and it’s a pity that we couldn’t have stayed longer but we had to come back to school – shame!
