Recently, rumors circulating on the internet concerning who will be performing at the famous Leeds and Reading festival this year. They have indicated that such names as The Arctic Monkeys, The Kings of Leon and Greenday could be headlining the three day festival, which happens over the August bank holiday. These would be yet more massive bands, following Metallica, The Killers and Rage Against the Machine last year.
This has attracted a lot of attention and when the tickets go on sale in HMV stores across the country at 7pm on Monday, massive queues are expected. Other ‘leaks’ are that there could be appearances from such bands as The Cribs, Vampire Weekend, The Pigeon Detectives, Weezer and The Offspring.
The World famous Reading festival has run every year since , and has attracted many famous bands in its lifetime. The much more recent Leeds festival started in 1999 and now bands rotate over the duration of the festival, playing both festivals during the weekend.
Also, this year a new ticket system has been introduced to prevent ticket touting. This system means that the things everybody will be buying in HMV from the 30th will only be vouchers, guaranteeing a real ticket. In the shop people’s details will be taken along with photo ID. Then, in August these vouchers will be redeemable for the real tickets. The aim of the new scheme is to give ticket touts less chance of making sales. Another rule concerning tickets now is that one adult can only buy 2 tickets to prevent bulk buying.
As well as this, children aged 12 and under are permitted to enter free, however the festival’s organizers are strongly advising that the festival is not suitable for younger audiences.
I WOULD LIKE TO STRESS THAT ALL BANDS MENTIONED IN THIS ARTICLE HAVE NOT CONFIRMED THAT THEY WILL BE PERFORMING AT THIS YEARS FESTIVAL.
