Art - KS5

The key stage 5 course for the sixth form follows AQA Unendorsed specification for Art and Design and the endorsed courses in Photography and Textiles.

Year 12 - Units 1 and 2 are coursework where skills are developed through observation, experiences, contextual referencing and the development of ideas being finally executed as an outcome of the student’s own choice. Unit 3 is the 5 hour controlled test where students choose one question to complete. Here preparatory studies and maquettes are produced showing clearly developed thoughtful ideas.

Year 13 – Units 4 and 6 are coursework units developing further skills and techniques. Unit 4 gives the students the opportunity to develop their own investigation into a subject of their own choosing.
Unit 6 is another independent study investigating a question posed based on an area of Art in its widest form. A written essay of 1000 words answers the question through discussion, investigation and first source research. This has to be submitted along with a sketchbook and the final outcome(s).
